| Using the 2009 version of Account Ability to print 2010 tax forms. |
If you need to print 2010 forms prior to the 2010 release of Account Ability (generally November of each year), IDMS provides free 2010 overlays to all licensed users of Account Ability. These overlays, which will work only with the 2009 version of Account Ability (Version 18), currently include forms
1098-C, 1099-S, 1099-MISC, W-2G
You will find these overlays on our website in folder
http://idmsinc.com/download/overlays/
In this folder, look for the following archives:
GDIFORMS2009_V18.zip
GDIFORMS2010_V18.zip
In order to install the 2010 overlays,
a) Make sure Account Ability is not active on any user workstation.
b) Extract the contents of GDIFORMS2010_V18.zip to the \FORMS\2009\ folder located within the Account Ability 2009 installation folder. You will want to overwrite all files when prompted.
Start Account Ability and try printing some of your 2010 returns to ensure proper installation.
NOTES:
1) These overlays will only work with Account Ability's Windows GDI Printer Configuration (see Account Ability's Preferences menu).
2) If you need to reprint 2009 returns, perform steps (a) and (b) above for the archive GDIFORMS2009_V18.zip
3) Overlays for prior year versions of Account Ability are also available (e.g. _V17 for use with the 2008 version, etc.).
4) In order to ensure compliance for the current reporting year, you will need to purchase the current version of Account Ability. |

| How to reprint one or more tax forms without reprinting the entire file. |
Each tax form contains a Printed indicator clearly displayed at the top of the form's user interface. The state of the Printed indicator determines whether or not the return should be printed.
If unchecked (default), the return is considered ready to print and is printed during subsequent print sessions.
If checked, the return is considered already printed and is not printed during subsequent print sessions.
The Clear Print Indicators and Set Print Indicators selections on each form's Tools menu facilitate global manipulation of the Printed indicator. The Locate Dialog (F5) can also be used to set/reset the Printed indicator (see 'Locate...' on the 'File' menu).
Example
Assume you wanted to reprint only 5 forms in a file containing 250 returns. First, select Set Print Indicators from the Tools menu in order mark all forms as printed. Next, use the Locate Dialog to reset (uncheck) the Printed indicator on each of the 5 forms to be reprinted. Now print the forms. Only the 5 forms you requested will be printed.
Example
Assume you wanted to reprint all but 5 forms in a file containing 250 returns. First, select Clear Print Indicators from the Tools menu in order mark all forms as ready to print. Next, use the Locate Dialog to set (check) the Printed indicator on each of the 5 returns to be suppressed. Now print the forms. All but the 5 returns you suppressed will be printed. |
